内容简介:

The deployment of a layer of smaller cells, such as Pico cells, and micro cells etc. under an existing Microcell layer creates a multi-layer network of varying cell sizes, often called a Heterogeneous Network (HetNet). An ultra-dense deployment of small cells is adopted in 5G and future wireless networks to cope with the exponentially increased demand of data rate. The terrestrial wireless network can be augmented with the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to construct a three-tier network. It is envisaged that the UAV-assisted network is a key enabler to support diverse applications with higher capacity and coverage requirements as seen in future wireless networks, for example, supporting disaster responses and being placed in temporary hotspots. Despite the huge benefit can be offered by such networks, they also lead to critical problems of interference, handover, and resource allocation etc. The handover problem, such as frequent handover and increased handover failure rate can consequently cause degraded QoS. This talk will discuss the handover challenges in both the ultra-dense HetNet and UAV aided wireless network and then present a selection of handover decision making methods we proposed recently, including the multiple multiple attribute decision making (MADM) and reinforcement learning (Q-learning) based handover schemes.
